Jeanne Untrauer Mccormack

Jeannie (Jeanne) has been teaching movement for more than 30 years. Her movement foundation lies in the Graham Technique which was acquired in her early dance training under the tutelage of La Rue Allen, Executive Director of the Martha Graham Dance Company. She danced with the Contemporary Dance Company at Pennsylvania State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree, and professionally with Pennsylvania Dance Theatre. Additionally, Jeannie studied at The Joffrey School of Ballet, NYC, and with Nadine Ravine (Pennsylvania Ballet), Carol Rioux (private coach and ballet mistress for Joanne Woodward’s Company, “Dancers”), and Thomas Cooperman (American Dance Machine). She continued her classical training in California with Richard Adama (Vienna), Stephan Wenta (Paris Opera Ballet), Lila Zali (Russia), Victor and Tatiana Kasatsky (Moscow City Ballet). Follow up intensives with Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance with Maxine Sherman (Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham)

 

Pilates training began early in NYC with first generation Pilates Masters including Romana, Ron Fletcher, and Bruce King. Subsequent intensive training and certification courses with Stott Pilates (Mat, Reformer, CCB, Adv Mat, Adv Reformer, Adv CCB)

 

Extensive Yoga Studies and certification with Professor Vincent McCullough, Pacific West Institute of Yoga, Laguna Beach, CA

 

Tai Chi studies include certification from Dr. Paul Lam, Australia, Sun Style with emphasis in Tai Chi for Arthritis. Also, Yang Style, Form 1, with Professor Vincent McCullough, Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, CA

 

Taoist Qigong and Tai Chi Chaun including Sword Form with Master Pang Kai, Wudangshan, China.) Master Pang Kai is a senior disciple of Master Wang Xuanji.

 

Gyrotonic and gyrokenesis studies with Debra Rose, San Francisco Gyrotonics.

 

Presently, Jeannie is the Founder and Director of Desa Prana Studios. These beautiful beach front studios opened in 2011. The studios offer group classes and private sessions in the techniques of Pilates, Barre, and Yoga. Additionally, Jeannie Mccormack proudly certifies the best and most brilliant upcoming trainers in the modalities of Pilates, Barre, and Yoga.

 

Prior to opening her first studio in 2011, Jeannie spent 10 years teaching Mat and Equipment Pilates, and Yoga (Power and Ashtanga) at the University of California, Irvine. Additionally, Jeannie conducted seminars and workshops for the faculty, staff, and students. During this same time frame, Jeannie taught pilates, yoga, dance, and conditioning to several studios including The Danse Conservatory, San Juan Capistrano, CA, home school of Melissa Allen, Director of Summer Intensives for American Ballet Theatre.
